Eugene Golda Sr.
Eugene “Gene” A. Golda Sr., 67, of Roselle died Jan. 31 in the Center for Hope Hospice, Scotch Plains. Born in Elizabeth, Mr. Golda lived there most of his life before moving to Roselle. He was a customer service manager for the United States Postal Service in Elizabeth and retired in 1999 after 35 years of service. Mr. Golda was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Enterprise during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Since 1964, Mr. Golda worked part-time for various local funeral homes. He was a trustee and usher at St. Hedwig’s Church, Elizabeth, and was active in the church carnivals for 11 years. Mr. Golda was awarded the 1991 Father of the Year from St. Hedwig Holy Name Society and in 1990, the Layman Award Pro-Meritis for the church. He was a loan officer for the Elizabeth Postal Employees Credit Union. Mr. Golda was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors, Union County branch 237, a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 91, Elizabeth, and a member of the Elizabeth Knights of Columbus Council 2531. Surviving are his wife, Marcy “Mikosa” Golda; two daughters, Gina Cammarano and Laura L. Lombardi; a son, Eugene A. Jr.; three brothers, Stefan, Stanley and William, and seven grandchildren. The Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, Linden, handled the arrangements.

Stephen Onyrscuk
Stephen R. Onyrscuk, 60, of Roselle died Jan. 31 at home. Born in New York City, Mr. Onyrscuk lived in Brooklyn and moved to Roselle in 1984. He served on the Roselle Board of Education from 1994 to 2005, holding the positions of president and vice president. Mr. Onyrscuk was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3946 in Roselle and served as the advocate from 1994 to 1996. He also served as president and treasurer of its Columbian Club. Mr. Onyrscuk was active in the Boy Scouts of America at St. Joseph the Carpenter Church, Roselle. He was the advancement chairman for the Boy Scouts form 1987 to 2000. Mr. Onyrscuk was currently employed as the supervisor of Ticket Administration for NJ Transit-Rail Operations at Pennsylvania Station in Newark for 26 years. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Maureen; a son, Brian; two daughters, Jennifer and Christina Onyrscuk; his mother, Elizabeth Onyrscuk; a brother, Robert, and a sister, Lisa Alfeo. The Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home, Clark, handled the arrangements.
